Jones met with club Chairman Andrew Edwards on Tuesday to sign the new contract which will commit him to the club for the next two seasons.

"I am delighted to announce that Mark Jones has agreed to commit himself to Port Talbot Town Football Club," said Edwards.

"Mark is without doubt one of the leading managers not just in the Welsh Premier League but in Welsh football and his commitment enables us to now continue to build for the future and the challenges that the new league of twelve clubs will bring next season.

"We have already started negotiating new contracts with our playing staff and to add Mark to that list is just as important for our both our short and long term ambitions at this football club."

Jones returned to the club for a second sell in charge when he replaced Nicky Tucker in December 2008 and achieved a top five finish after turning the clubs season around. The Cardiff-based manager first joined Port Talbot Town in 2001 from Maesteg Park and set the standard for future managers as he brought in a higher calibre of player and took the club to the Semi-Final of the Welsh Cup.

Jones then went on to achieve domestic and European success at Carmarthen Town as he lifted the Welsh Cup with the West Wales side and also progressed to the 2nd round of the UEFA Cup in one of the Welsh Premier League European success stories. Since his return Jones has made a number of high-profile signings and signs a new contract with the club sitting in fifth place in the table and in the last eight of the Welsh Cup.

Club captain Matthew Rees also signed a new contract with the club over the weekend, so the future is certainly looking bright for fans of the GenQuip Stadium club.
