Steelman Barrow Switches to the Conference

Scott BarrowPort Talbot Town starlet Scott Barrow has completed his move from the Steelmen to Blue Square Premier side Tamworth and will now look forward to playing against the likes of Luton Town, Darlington, Grimsby and York City as well as Welsh duo Wrexham and Newport County.

Following two successful friendly appearances for Tamworth last week against Chesterfield and Rotherham, Barrow agreed personal terms at The Lamb Ground on Tuesday following negotiations between the two clubs.

Port Talbot Town manager Mark Jones spoke to the official Port Talbot website following the completion of the move.

"Scott was an important player for us and I am sorry to see him leave," said Jones.

"I believe Scott is more than capable of playing in the Football League and that he will be very soon. I am only sorry that he did not leave us to sign for a Football League club as I am sure that is where he is heading as he really is a fantastic lad with a great attitude for the game. I would like to personally and on behalf of everyone at Port Talbot Town wish him the very best of luck at Tamworth and in the rest of his football career."

Barrow signed for Port Talbot Town in 2006 as a 16-year old after impressing during a brief period in the Welsh League with Briton Ferry Athletic following his release from Swansea City. Barrow made his first appearance for Port Talbot Town against Newport County in a pre-season friendly before becoming a regular player for the club in the Welsh Premier League.

Despite his young age, the talented left-sided player has already made 88 Welsh Premier League starts during his time with the club while also appearing in the Welsh Cup Final and in the UEFA Europa League in 2010. Barrow was also short-listed for the Principality Welsh Premier League Young Player of the Season award while also being named in the Welsh Premier League Managers Team of the Season.

A hugely-popular player with the supporters at Port Talbot Town, Barrow scored the goal of the season during the last campaign in the live-televised derby against Neath at The GenQuip Stadium with a stunning free-kick and his two performances for Tamworth have already been warmly-received by Lambs supporters on the clubs forums.

Ironically, Tamworth's next home friendly is on Saturday when Port Talbot Town's Principality Welsh Premier League rivals Llanelli are the visitors to The Lamb Ground.

Everyone at Port Talbot Town Football Club has wished Scott the best of luck at his new club and in his football career.
