Rookie Keeper Richards outstanding in Reds Victory

Airbus UK Broughton 1-2 Llanelli

Llanelli claimed all three points at the Airfield and had rookie 'keeper Craig Richards to thank, as well as the prolific Rhys Griffiths who began where he left off last season with both Llanelli's goals.

It has become the norm for Griffiths to score the goals that matter, but for youth team product Richards it was an unlikely chance which he took with both hands, quite literally. As well as saving a penalty, the youngster also pulled off four excellent saves as he stood in for regular incumbent Ashley Morris.

Griffiths scored two headers either side of the penalty save and although the hosts scored one for consolation through midfielder Danny Desormeaux, it was a day that belonged to the rookie Richards and the goal-machine Griffiths.

Port Talbot Town 2-0 Bala Town

In a repeat of their final game of last season, Port Talbot Town again ran our winners over Colin Caton's Bala Town.

The Steelmen scored one in both halves to claim the three points with summer signing Dave Brookes scoring the opener on his full debut for the club. The midfielder who played under Jones at Dinas Powys, signed from minnows Bridgend Street and came off the bench in the Europa League for the club, so he would have been delighted to register his first goal on his Welsh Premier League debut.

The second goal after the interval came from somebody who knows exactly where the back of the net is in Welsh Premier League football as Martin Rose scored his first of what is likely to be many more during the campaign.
