Hollywood Actor accepts Vice-Presidency at Port Talbot
Port Talbot Town Football Club have announced that acclaimed actor Michael Sheen OBE has accepted the position of Vice-President at his home-town club.
Best-known to football fans for his portrayal of Brian Clough in the 2009 film 'The Damned United', Sheen has already been honoured with the freedom of the borough of Neath Port Talbot and was named 'Actor of the Year' by GQ Magazine in 2009.
Football and the town of Port Talbot played a leading role in Sheen's early life as he played football for Baglan Boys Club while attending Glan Afan Comprehensive School on his way to forging a hugely successful career on the stage and on the big screen. During his career Sheen has starred alongside Hollywood A-listers Dennis Quaid, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham-Carter and Samuel L Jackson amongst many others and his currently working on a list of new projects as his success continues.

As a huge football fan raised in Port Talbot, Michael is the ideal figure to become Vice-President of the club and we look forward to welcoming him and his family to The GenQuip Stadium soon."
The former National Youth Theatre of Wales student is best known in his profession for his portrayal of well-known public figures as in addition to playing the role of Brian Clough, Sheen has also portrayed David Frost in the stage production and film version of 'Frost/Nixon' and also former Prime Minister Tony Blair in 'The Deal', 'The Queen' and 'A Special Relationship.'
Currently Sheen is spending time between his new home in Los Angeles and Port Talbot as he will be producing, directing and appearing in a play for the National Theatre of Wales in Port Talbot next Easter.
On confirming his decision, Sheen stated his pleasure on accepting the role while wishing the club all the very best of luck for the new season and that he hopes to be able to visit the club in the near future.
